My Sony Vaio Laptop (VGN-BX760) was working fine. Now it will not power on. I'll get a battery light, and every once in a while it will come on, but as it is booting the fan sounds like it's way too high, and then the laptop just shuts down again. Already tried replacing RAM, and taking battery out and power cycling. Can anyone help please?

Solution
Sounds off hand as though it is overheating you can attempt to blow out any dust from the vents but if dust bunnies have formed around the heatsink, disassembly and physical cleaning would be needed - this guide shows how http://www.insidemylaptop.com/disassemble-sony-vaio-vgn-bx-series-laptop/ (through step 14). There may also be youtube guides for that.

I am having the same problem exactly. The power light is on, fan sound goes from calm to noisy and the laptop shuts down. Screen doesn't light up, HDD indicator doesn't light up either. Please tell me you have found a solution to this problem!!!!
