The Lenovo ThinkPad T530 might be worth considering as it fits in your price range and has the option for up to a 1TB HDD: http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/t-series/t530/ For $130 you can upgrade to the i5 processor and the 1TB drive.

Of course there are also the IdeaPad laptops from Lenovo as well: http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideapad/
I have seen the IdeaPad laptops recommended quite frequently.
