I have a 5.1 logitech set I've used for a few years and have always had little problems with them.
Currently I have them arranged at the monitor in front and the front left and right next to them.
Then I have the 2 "rears" set as side, and they are physically directly above the front left and right, held up by velcro around the monitor.
Then center speaker is directly above the monitor.
Problem is some games if somethings in front of me, it will only play out of the center. Or if I plug in head phones, I often have dead zones directly in front and behind me.
It is very unsettling.
I have speaker fill and not sure whats the best bet. these are the default on board realtek hd audio sound card.
I'm guessing 2.1 with the fronts, "rears" and center set to mimic the front would be the best bet?
Not sure how to set that as the drivers only have stereo, quad, 5.1, 7.1
Currently its 7.1, with rear unchecked.

So when you are listening to the game it only comes out of the center? when you have your headphones on how does it sound? have you checked to make sure that all the cords are plugged in correctly? Are there any shorts in the cords? is the headphone jack itself shorted out?
