Ive found a Lenovo laptop (Ideapad Y510P) that I really like however unfortunately its not available through Lenovo UK or any UK retailer, should I buy it from the US because I'm worried that if the laptop breaks or something then it will be a lot harder to get it fixed because it wasnt bought in the UK. All answers would be appreciated :)

It seems like such a good deal, until you order it (if you can find someone who will ship it to you) and then you get thr bill for the port duties VAT and any other applicable taxes you are going to get added on if you try to buy from overseas. It wont be cheaper then I assure you. You need to find something in the UK.

Yeah it will be harder for warrenty reasons I assume if you don't buy it from UK also don't forget the charger will be different. You could risk it. But I suggest play it safe. And look for some, thing similar in UK

Unfortunately the one I want is US$819.99 which is around about £550, its such a good deal and Im not really prepared to pay £1000 for it.

don't forget you will get hammerd by vat as well.

thats %20 so its more like £660
with other charges it is more like £700

then you will probably need a new charger.

Prices are different in the states because of different taxes. If you buy it from the u.s. and have it shipped over, you will have to pay V.A.T. on it when it is shipped over. Quite a few people get caught out by this so beware and find out how much it will be first.

im not sure about the VAT's and stuff, but Lenovo wills ship out there laptop from china, not US.

If US website says that can ship to UK then warranty will be honoured

also in temrs of the charger, you don't need to buy a new one. you can just pick up the cord part (part that plugs into wall) for a couple pounds at a computer store. (or an adaptor)

If you buy it outside the UK, you are going to pay taxes on it, period. Thats the way it works, and why most places wont ship overseas simply because people dont understand this, and refuse the shipment when they find out they have to pay this when the package arrives.
