Hi,

Specs: Intel Core2 Duo P8400 (2.26Hz) 4096Mb 300Gb Blu-ray Combo 16.4″

My girlfriends VAIO falls appart and is in a pretty bad shape. How much do you think a laptop with these specs is worth?

Also could you make some recommendations for a new one that is a bit faster/better/lighter? Hoping for a really good price, so we can get rid of that thing.

Thanks a lot

You are bound to be disappointed with what it will fetch.
Brand new laptops are very cheap today.
Look for your laptop in used condition on ebay. Then select completed auctions, and in green, you will see what it actually sells for.

I suggest you look for a thinkpad in the Lenovo outlet store.

Oh, weirdly my last post didn't appear.

I think I didn't make it clear enough, sorry. What I wanted was some recommendations for a new one that is a bit faster/better/lighter? Hoping for a really good price for the new one, so we can get rid of the old one - possibly just bin it. (Battery lasts no 10 min, power cable plug almost breaks off, etc).

You already said Lenovo outlet, but that isn't enough as I'm a bit confused about how this works these days. The processors got so complacated and diverse with all the multiple cores - I have problems telling which is better most of the times. Some are only mobile processors, too - so this all makes it very unclear for me.

A few links to some laptops would be great! 15-16 inch screen again, but as I said lighter and a faster would be great. I'm not playing any games, but as a designer It can't be too weak really. The current one isn't too bad yet.

Thanks a lot!
