I have been looking into buying a gaming laptop around $1000. I currently have a MacBook Pro and have steam so I play some games on it such as civ 5, boarderlands 2 and league of legends but the performance is not that great. I want to be able to play the newest games well but I do not need super amazing performance that a $2000 desktop build would give me. I have also been debating just keeping my 13 inch late 2011 MacBook Pro and getting a ps4 or Xbox one instead. I know that might not go over so well on this forum though haha. So if anyone can tell me of the best gaming laptop I could get for that price that would be great. I have mainly been looking into the asus gaming and entertainment series and have seen msi computers as well but I have heard that those can be flimsy but not sure. Thanks.

Sorry I forgot to originally add this:

1. What is your budget?
$1000-$1200

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
15.6 inch mainly

3. What screen resolution do you want?
1080p would be ideal. Best possible.

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
Would want it to be as portable as possible while still gaming as well as it can.

5. How much battery life do you need?
Above 4 hours would be ideal.

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
Civ 5, battlefield 4 when I comes out, ac4, newest games. On the best settings that the laptop can play if that is medium that is fine.

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
Web browsing, watching videos. Word documents.

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
500gb would be fine but of course more is better.

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.
Best buy mainly. Newegg, asus, msi as well

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
As long as I can 5 years would be great but I know that may not be possible.

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
Standard DVD cd would be fine

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
I would take any brand. Heard great things about asus. I kinda like msi but I have heard the build quality is not always that great.

13. What country do you live in?
USA

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.
I want to be able to play the new games that come out for years to come. I have seen these 3 in particular.

Msi ge60 2oe

Oh and touchscreen is cool and it can help for windows 8 but it is more of a novelty to me and not a requirement at all for me.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the help. Just wondering though would the 740m graphics card be able to play the newest games for a couple of years but they do not have to be on the highest settings. Looks like a great option though. Thanks

Thanks for the advise about the msi gt60. It looks like a very good laptop with high quality specs for a lower price. I was just wondering though if the msi gt60 was a quality build laptop because I have heard some bad things about the msi laptops build and them being made of cheap materials but I am not positive because I have not been able to have a hands on experience with those laptops and that may have been about older models only. Thanks for the advice

Thanks so much. The gt60 looks like it could run prettying every game that I am looking at. Just wondering where did you buy yours?

Sorry but I was also just wondering if you thought the ge60 could run the games well also because the one thing that the ge60 has better for me is the enhanced portability being lighter and I saw that the gpu is a 765 m instead of a 770 m like the gt60. Again thanks for all the help.
