What would be the best laptop to do some video editing when im not at my desktop? looking for i7, ssd or 7200 HDD and 8GB+ of ram. Screen size doesnt have to be huge, 13-15 would be ideal. Prefer to not get mac just because i dont have 2k on me right now. Dont need a high end gpu since Vegas does not take advantage of most new gen GPUs. Not sure on budget since i dont know what they are going for.

The following Sager NP2650 should be enough for your needs with as base starting price of $765.

I would add the following options:
1. IPS screen option (vs. standard TN screen) + $50
2. IC Diamond Thermal Compound (improve thermal transfer from CPU to heatsink) +$25
3. Upgrade to 8GB of RAM + $40

Total Cost $877 (before shipping & taxes)

Going from 8GB to 16GB of RAM is $120 so depending on the size of your projects it may or may not be worth it.

The price is far below $2k, so adding a SSD is easily doable if you want the laptop to boot up quickly. I do not recommend writing video files to the SSD though. Since the lifespan is far shorter than a hard drive.
