I have bought all my past laptops from Dell. The Dell website.
Recently I have thought of buying a different brand.
Lenovo lets you buy right off of their web site. So that might be an option.
But I was thinking of an asus.
I wish you could buy right from asus.
It seems kinda dirty to buy at places like best buy.
Where are people buying laptops?

Solution
From anyplace, I look for a minimal hard drive and plan on replacing it with a ssd.
From a vendor, an included ssd has a very high markup.
I bought my most recent direct from sony from their clearance section.
More commonly, thinkpads from Lenovo. Look at their outlet store.

Dell, Asus and Lenovo are all good. They are all major builders. It becomes more a matter of personal taste. If one of them was really better than the others, than the others would go bankrupt, lol.

I usually buy them off of ebay. A lot of new machines that people never opened for a cheap price. If you're really paranoid about buying from a major retailer Amazon or BestBuy too if the price isn't too bad because of their return policy. Look for a machine that has the specs and a small drive. Buy it add SSD done.

got my last 3 used. ~$50 each. 1 served as my main PC for a couple of years until last November.
