US LED TV, can it be used in Hong Kong?

Hi all, I want to know, if I have a Sony 55HX929 LED TV that I brought in US.

Can I bring to Hong Kong and use it?

I read that I can buy a Stepdown Transformer, and connect it? Is this safe to do? Will it damage the TV?

Also, does anyone know if you can also bring a Monster Powerbar 1100, to be used with a Stepdown Transformer?

Using a stepdown transformer is not an issue. They are safe to use (I have used many over the years in various locations in Europe and Asia). Just make sure the transformers you use are rated to handle the wattage of the devices you connect to it. Too many devices connected to a single (under powered) transformer will lead to failure and possible damage to devices.

BTW, both the HDTV and the Powerbar will work fine with a stepdown transformer. Not a problem. Just make sure the transformer is large enough (wattage).

There is some truth to this. When I was in Germany several years ago, and used multiple transformers, I purchased a device to verify the proper polarity of the outlets (on the transformer). Here is an article about the topic.

But In general, you been to Hong Kong before? Also, when does a stepdown transformer, not have polarity? Basically, having polarity is a good thing? or bad thing?

Proper polarity ensures a safe electrical circuit for you and whatever is connected to the outlet (as in knowing which side of a 2 wire connection is "hot" and which is not). The polarity issue will present itself at the outlet and will show at the transformer. Using the tool mentioned, you just plug into outlet and check. At worse, you flip the plug over.

I have not been to HK, but have been to S. Korea which uses the same sort of outlets (same as the UK as I recall).
