Hello all,
Okay, so a customer brought me a laptop (Toshiba Satellite L505-S6951) with a destroyed power jack. It's one of those type that's not soldered directly to the board but instead connects to the mobo with a 4-pin plug which has a few inches of wire leading to the actual power jack part which gets mounted to the case in a stupid little square plastic slot area. Here's what the power jack is supposed to look like:
This one was cracked in half, mounting area tabs were broken and the wires were broken off. Here it is (glued back together):
I've fixed a ton of these before. Usually the cheap plastic mounting slot just breaks which ends up allowing the power jack to be pushed in too far, and all that's required is re-mounting the jack and securing it some other way to the case somehow (i usually use a hot glue gun). Anyhow, this one is basically the same thing except when his power jack became unreachable inside the case, he decided to take out all the screws and then pry the case open just enough to somehow pull the jack through to the outside of the case. Genius right? This of course worked for him for a while until surprise, surprise...the wires broke off the back side of the jack, at which point he brought it to me.
So my question is this: Does anybody know exactly how these wires attach to the back side of this jack? Thought it'd be pretty straight forward but there are 4 wires (2 red, 2 black) and there appear to be only 2 connection points on the back of this jack. In fact I'm almost positive the 2 red get soldered to the back side of the center pin and the 2 black go to the back side of the plugs outer rim thing (ground). Yes, I realize this whole part can be replaced for $6 off eBay but I'd like to get this fixed right now and I don't need anymore laptops in pieces waiting on parts in my already cramped office. See pictures below. Any help greatly appreciated. Tia guys. =)

Just an FYI, that round part you see in the last picture is the back side of the jacks center pin and those other spots are really only 1 spot (I think) because its all just one sorta U-shaped piece of metal.
