Today I accidently turned off internet on my laptop with Fn+F2, I went to turn it on, and even though it came up as On, the wireless Network list said 'Wi-Fi (Off)'. I've tried loads of stuff to fix it, but every time it's come up with the same answer; 'turn on wireless capability'. help :\

The same machine has dual boot, Windows 8.1 x64 and it does not work. Driver installed by OS. Tried to reinstall drivers in dell website.. alos tried to backup the driver in 8, and install it into 8.1... none worked... Earlier it had Win 7, same proble.... also The wireless device did not get ditect by tried Linux versions. Look like the device is off or sleep etc... Only Win 8 could use it!!!

make sure your wireless it's on. The one outside sometimes it's on the side of the laptop or in the bottom front make sure that one is turne on. If you dnt see it go to the control panel and try to turn it on from there. You could also run a diagnose and repair. On the bottom right there is an icon with the two computers and a shield when there's enternet when there is not it has an x. Right click there and run the diagnose and repair...or from there go to network and sharing center and on the right panel click manage wireless network. IF YOUR WIRELESS BUTTON IS OFF YOU WILL NOT READ ANY OF THE NETWORKS.
hoped i help good luck ;)

Yes, as I said I've already done that, as it's the logical first thing to do; still doesn't work..

Hi Shuchi,
I also have a Dell Inspiron 15R that was working perfectly fine until the other day that the wireless connection started playing games. When I start the computer it sometimes connects and some others doesn't recognise any network. Sometimes if I restart the computer it connects, but now it doesn't anymore. I have re-installed the drivers as indicated in the forum, but still having the same problem. When I click on the troubleshooting it doesn't find anything and even if I try to restore the system to an earlier back up, it gives me an error.... Could you help?

I have exactly the same problem with my dell 5521, the worst thing is the problem persists even in others SO, like Linux and other versions of Windows, furthermore I have seen the same problem reported by others dell 5521 users, so I am afraid that this problem is because of the hardware of this specific product.
