Hi, i have recently bought a second hand laptop and done it up. I have formatted the disk and re-installed windows 7. However it does not want to connect to the wifi! For secure networks it doesn't ask for the password and for insecure it just doesn't work! The connection works fine via Ethernet cable, any suggestions? Thanks,
Jake

open the "Start Menu" and right click on "Computer" you will get a drop down menu. in this drop down menu if you click on "Manage" it will open a new window call "Computer Management"

In this new winodw on the left side near the top you will see some "System Tools" if you click on "Device Manager" it will list all the decives in your laptop inlcuding network devices. which you will find about half way down the list under "Network Adapters"

hopefully will tell you what your Wireless chip is :)
also some acer laptop have Acer eNet Manger installed. if you have this on your laptop uninstall it.
