Recently,I started having performance issues in almost every game. Here are a few examples:
I used to play Trine 2 with 60 FPS and now I play it with 20 FPS.I play Civilization V with 10-15 FPS maximum.
Here's more about my laptop:
Intel Core i5 M 480 2.67 Ghz Dual-Core

Radeon HD 5470M

4GB Ram

284GB HDD(80GB Free Hard Drive Space)

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit

Any help appreciated!

Assuming the settings on the games haven't changed, a few things to check.

Is your laptop getting very hot? The CPU could possibly be throttling if the cooling system needs a good cleaning etc.

Have you been defragging your hard drive?

Can you check task manager while the game is running to see if what % of resources the game is using? Are there background programs that are running at the same time which might be competing for resources?

Possible spyware / bloatware could be causing a lot of issues, might be time for a format/clean install if there are a lot of accumulated things which are tough to get rid of completely.

The laptop isn't getting hot,I usually get temperatures from 40 up to 60 celsius degress.
I defragged my hard drive yesterday.

I've checked the task manager and I don't get high usage rate percents.

I haven't ever done a clean install or a format so I thought about doing the same as well. Thanks for the recommendations and your time anyway!

Check/Clean the vents on the laptop. If they get clogged your CPU and GPU will overheat and throttle back.

DON'T play games on your lap or in bed as fabric tends to get sucked up into the vent. ;)

Also, make sure you hear the cooling fan going on high while gaming. If you don't hear it, it may be stuck on dust or broken.
