Hi guys, I am buying new laptop on budget, but obviously want as best as possible in performance. I am not in US, but budget would be around ~600$, though it can be more only if there is a very good reason for that.

I am leaning towards ASUS, because they produce reliable laptops.

1. ASUS K55VJ-SX199D -> http://www.skytech.lt/k55vjsx199d-asus-k55vjsx199d-smoky-black-156-1366x768-led-glare-intel-core-3120m-p-147098.html#tabsnav-1

- i3-3120M 2.5 Ghz
- Geforce GT 635M 2GB, 192 Bit
- 6 GB RAM

2. ASUS K56CB -> http://www.skytech.lt/k56cbxx102-asus-k56cb-156-led-i53317ugt-740m-2gb4gb-500gb-p-149844.html

- i5-3317U 1.7 Ghz (2.6 Ghz Turbo)
- Geforce GT 740M 2GB, 128 Bit
- 4 GB RAM

So are those 2 options decent? Which one is better and maybe you guys know better options for similar price?
Thanks :)

Look,I live in Greece and theses ASUS notebooks here costs ~800 euros which is 900-1000 $ so prices are very good I think for these kind of machines and their abilities.
From the two options the only difference is the CPU and RAM but you can add RAM to 8 or 16 GB.The two CPU's are quite the same: http://www.game-debate.com/cpu/index.php?pid=1284&pid2=955&compare=core-i3-3120m-2-5ghz-vs-core-i5-3317u-1-7ghz

but I would choose the i5 processor if price is the same for both.In the same site I only found these good options in the same price:
http://www.skytech.lt/nxm49el006-acer-v5571-156-slim-led-wxga-i53317mintel-graphics-4000-shared-vram-4-p-139243.html

with the last one having i7 processor not meaning much cause i7 is the same as i5 in terms of ability.i7 processors are just overpriced,considered better but they operate exactly the same.Also Acer is very reliable and I would trust Acer more than Asus but that's me.So,specifications and prices of these laptops are the same,all you have to do now is select which one suits you the best in terms of weight,colour,extra ports and accessibility,design and other personal factors.

Thanks, but those Acers have nothing really better than Asus apart from little higher price. Graphics cards are same or worse, and CPU is pretty much the same :) Don't know maybe I am biased, but after reading many opinions and reviews I found Asus to be more reliable overall.

Now those two CPUs on Asus, i5 is much more energy efficient, but isn't i3 much better in performance due to higher clock speed?
