ZenBook UX31E and UX31A - screen resolution related question

Hi, i just bought a second hand Asus Zenbook UX31A, with the best specs. Now, i love the laptop, but sadly i came to realize that a 1920x1080 resolution on a 13.3" display puts way too much strain on my eyes, and it's just not working for me. On the other hand, when i switch to 1600x900 it looks just right for me!

Since not working in the screen's native resolution lowers it's sharpness, i was thinking on selling the UX31A and buying an ultrabook with a 1600x900 native resolution. Maybe even the Zenbook UX31E. but i read there are a lot of differences between the two, one of them is that the screen on the UX31E is not only 1600x900, but also not an IPS display. The question is if an IPS display that is not set to it's native resolution is better then a non IPS display that is set to its native resolution? what do you say? should i try to make that change? or stick with what i got?

Thanks

if the display allows you to increase the refresh rate for lower resolution it may solve the sharpness problem, which I believe is not about sharpness but mostly about slightly screen tearing because of lower resolution (usually if you drop from the native resolution you can increase the refresh rate)

well, regardless of the screen properties, 1600*900 is a high resolution for 13" which shouldnt cause any problems unless you dont change the ratio which is 16:9.

If you consider the fact that most notebooks comes with 1366*768p on 15.4". I believe you are safe to go.
worth a try before selling I guess.

Well, i cant raise the refresh rate above 60, which is the current rate anyway. Honestly i think that if i wasn't aware of the fact that not working in native resolution can cause tearing and such, i'm not sure i would've noticed. But since i do know, then when i look closely i can see a bit of tearing in text when i'm on 1600x900 comparing to 1920x1080. The thing is that i'm not sure if the switch to the UX31E will be a smart move because it doesn't have an IPS display..

You could try raising the DPI to make items larger, but run at native resolution
