ASUS: Quieter and better cooling, sturdier, better touchpad. I think that the chassis looks better.

MSI: Easier to maintain and service, upgrade-able CPU and GPU, cheaper, longer base warranty

Neither is terrible.

Everything that I have read shows that the MSI runs pretty hot. The asus is supposed to have the best cooling solution for high end components within laptops.

ye i have to agree asus has better BUILT IN cooling with covered bottom and 0 ventilation ...but msi has some insane ventilation on the bottom at the crucial parts...and with a cooling pad i bet its even cooler than the asus...and before ppl stat flaming that its a laptop and you want to carry it with you and the cool pads are nothing but trouble...these laptops are desktop replacements you wont carry a beast that weights 4-5 kg without a proper bag...and theres plenty of space for the pad 2

You people leaning towards the MSI need to read this article/review (http://www.anandtech.com/show/7076/msi-gt70-dragon-edition-notebook-review-haswell-and-the-gtx-780m/4). Wish I had before I bought the MSI. Constant in-game lockups, and after stress-testing the SSD and RAM it turns out to be the CPU is getting cooked as the single fan blows hotter air from the GPU across the CPU. It's basically throttling every second to just keep cooler, which never happens. Not really a smart cooling solution for any gaming system. And it does not matter how much faster the innards are if the whole stick of butter gets melted down and eventually useless because 1 fan is responsible for blowing air from the back out the side
