Hi everybody, I recently posted a thread highlighting that I was about to purchase a Lenovo Ideapad y410p, but upon further research I found this Toshiba Qosmio X70-ABT2G22 which is better in pretty much every single way for a similar price.

Should I go ahead and buy the Toshiba or is there a better laptop in this price range that I could buy?

The standard RAM on the Toshiba is only 4GB but I'd probably upgrade that to 8GB, as well as adding a 256gb SSD to replace the hard drive.

Thanks!

Forget about getting similar prices in EU , in EU the Prices have 20% Taxes included , in USA they don't add the Taxes online. so it will be 20% more in uk.

it is coming in Q3 2013 in Europe.

OFC the Qosmio is better , but it is Huge and heavy ... you cant compare 17 inch to 14 inch lol

if you don't mind the weight and size , go for it.

Yeah I don't mind the weight and size, but I just realised that it's not available in the UK (or so I think).

Is there anywhere I can buy this in the UK?
If not, is there a similar laptop that I can buy in the UK for a similar price? I don't care about the brand at all really.

Thanks

There are no reviews of this laptop yet? It seems like a good deal, however these toshibas have gotten many bad reviews in the past. Probably worth another $100-200 to buy a sager with same specs more or less, but better quality.

Yeah, I made a thread asking for opinions of this laptop, no responses yet though.

It looks like an awesome deal, except there's one problem. No reviews. This is probably because it was just released, and nobody has received one yet.

Assuming it´s more or less on par with most toshiba laptops, especially the Q line, it will most likely be a very poor quality build with lots of flex etc... So I am too skeptical to buy it just yet, and still most likely going to buy the sager np8230.

I bought a Toshiba Qosmio X70-A

2400 or 2600 US and the first thing I found out was that the sound didn't work. After searching the internet I found out that this was a common problem.

The fan is on the right side so the air will blow over your right hand if you use the mouse (if you're right handed) The power cord is not a plug, more of a din plug and the contact is not deep and falls of very easy.

And while on the computer you’re not checking the cord until the LOW BATTERY alarm shows up.

1 week after I bought the computer the hard drive sized and I had to buy a new SAMSUNG computer.

I'm not impressed by Toshiba's HIGH END laptop. I have had many (my first Toshiba) and I use to buy 20" but they seems to be very hard to find now a days so I decided to try Toshiba. Service left a lot to wish for, had to buy a new computer while the Toshiba Qosmio was on service as I need my computer

Never Toshiba again

I'm glad that I never bought it to be honest.
I spent a little extra and bought a custom Clevo laptop.

After trying out all of the high end laptops, Clevo and MSI are by far the best. Alienware is also pretty good but the price is extortionate and it looks tacky.

The reason I bought the Clevo instead of the MSI is because the Clevo has better cooling, it has two fans as opposed to one.
