Hi Guys,

I've HP G6 Pavilion. I've recently purchased a 12 cell replacement battery, but I've noticed the battery hardly charges when I charge it with the laptop still ON, while I'm working. I mean real slow, in 1.5 hours, it will hardly charge 4-5%.

BUT, if I charge it with laptop OFF, it charges like normal.

I know most of you will assume its a Charger issue, but I don't think it is, because I also have a 6 months old 6 Cell Battery and it charges JUST LIKE NORMAL. It usually takes 2 hours to full charge and everything seems normal.

Is this a faulty battery?

How much time a 12 cell battery should take to full charge?

Thanks.

Solution
the twelve cell battery will have a higher resistance than the 6 cell battery and will require more current to charge it, the charging circuit will most likely be charging it very slowly while the pc is on as it cannot cope with the pc being on and charging the battery due to the resistance.

Strange, but I've a 65W charger. Is it not enough?

What else could be in the laptop which doesn't support it?

It was a faulty battery. Got it replaced & the new one seems to be working fine.
