I have a Dell Inspiron N5110.I noticed the following. When I play games on my laptop (new ones), they appear with really slow FPS.However, when I plug THE laptop' charger in and start playing a game, they run normally and with normal FPS.Is that normal and is there anyway that I can change it?

Solution
When you go into Advanced Power Setting , and then into Graphics Power setting you can that when it is On Battery the option is set to Maximise Battery Life and the Plugged In option set to Maximize Performance (This is the default High Performance Profile). So when your laptop goes into power saving mode your GPU is not allowed to run at full power in order to save battery. Hence the lag occurs. If you set it to Maximize Performance the game will run normally.

Most likely do to the system automatically going into power saving mode and having the charger in causes the laptop to use as much power as needed.

Edit: If you have Win7 go to the Control panel > Hardware and Sound > Power options and create a power plan for high performance (assuming that is the problem)

I used to take out my battery and store it at 60% then use power cord. This helped in gaming and saves your battery life. If you want to use battery then you gotta adjust your battery preferences to Performance, but it'll drain fast.
