My Boston Digital BA735 won't work with any of my computers.

I have these Boston Digital BA735 speakers (one subwoofer and two speakers) and they worked great with my old computer (2000 Gateway). I got a new computer and they don't work at all. The computer's an HP Pavilion a6430f and it doesn't have a sound card. My old Gateway did, some SoundBlaster Live! or something. Does this make a difference?

The speakers also won't work with my 80's stereo or my iPod. My 2005 a1101n HP doesn't play sound through them, either. I'm thinking it's just a different sound format coming out. Can anyone confirm this before I get rid of these speakers??

Hey sorry this is very late. Thanks! I soonthereafter found a thread on the same topic. My motherboard did have a s/pdif coaxial audio port. I was so stupid; it's been there forever but I never tried to figure out what it was! I bought a $4 cable off of ebay to replace the 3.5mm digital, changed the defult output in realtek audio manager and now I've got great sound! Thanks though!

I've just bought this little boston system and I can't tell you the amount of news forums I've browsed in order to get the correct info for the speakers too work. I have them plugged into my tv at the moment but they also work with my galaxy s2 phone and my laptop. You need to buy an ADC (analogue digital converter) and appropriate leads to work with all of the above. DONT buy a DAC (digital to analogue converter) as this is the opposite to what the speakers need to work with all of the above. I paid $22 on ebay for the ADC and $3 for the lead as I already had other leads i needed here.
All I can say is WOW WOW WOW. This little boston system cost around $50 and I've got a home system that sounds like it's worth a hell of a lot more. I can't believe the sound that pumps out of those tiny (ugly) speakers. I'm just so glad I looked up internet forums for help....thank you.
