I have an HP Pavillion 6620f. I have 7.1 surround attached to my computer. Set up with an array of ordinary desk speakers. Everything has been working fine, but I noticed a problem tonight. My rear speaker only outputs, when I plug my headphones, into the front headphone jack. It does not work when i tell the computer to use the main audio driver. When I want to use headphones, the rear speaker starts working along with the headphones, defeating the point of headphones. I know the problem is not the individual speaker that is plugged in, because when I plugged my "front" speaker into the rear output. The different speaker had the same problem. The "Rear" speaker did not have any problems when plugged into the front output. I believe this is a software problem. How do I fix it?
