Im buying a dell inspiron 15-3521 laptop (4GB RAM) for some moderate gaming and normal usage.

1)Is the CPU (i5- 3337U) good enough compared to the 3230m ?

2) Is the graphics card HD 8730m (2 GB VRAM) good compared to GT 740m (1 GB VRAM)?

3)Will I be able to play some modern games at medium settings without lag?

4) Will the current laptop config bottleneck the GPU?

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. Does the 2.6 Ghz of the 3230m really have enough of an impact over the 3337U and what about the battery life. If I were to purchase a laptop with same config except with the 740m as my GPU, does it run games better than the 8730?
How much does VRAM really matter - 740m (1 GB) vs 740m (2GB) ?

I don't think VRAM will really matter much on a single display..you should be fine with the 1GB, but go for the 2GB if you can, But depending on and if there's a price diff or such, there really is no point.

The 3337u comes with turbo which can boost the clock speed of the CPU to at least 2.5Ghz when needed. Wouldn't hold my breath on the battery life being very long since both the laptops seem to be hogging quite a lot of power.
2) The HD8730 has a higher clock speed than the GT640m 100Mhz to be exact but there's not really much of a difference between the two.

If anyone has any final comments, please do tell me. Ill be buying one of these babies tomorrow.

One final thing, the HD 8730 appears to be relatively new and there are no reviews for it on the web, save for the AMD website. Has anyone here used it?

The lenovo model seems to be the better choice since the price difference isn't a massive one. Check this guys channel out for a review on the HD8730 but i recommend you go for the Lenovo's GT740m since there really isn't much of a difference http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIpW6yB5GCw

dude i m using inspiron 15r wid the same configurations.
n have installed about 18HD games including assassins creed 3, prototype 2, nfs mostwanted 12, etc.
all of them seem to work excellently.
none of the games lag and battery life is also good.
just the issue is while playing games if you want the best out of it then you have to keep it plugged on AC source.
