I've got a Dell Inspiron and it's been shutting down unexpectedly recently. Now it wont turn on at all! However the power light is on. I've changed the battery for it but it doesn't seem to do any good.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated, cheers.

Where did my other post go? Anyway, something bad with your power delivery system. It requires a custom part and diagnosis, and fixing. Costing way more than a whole new better PC. Also, good news is that your Hard Drive is still alive. Fish it out and salvage the data, and use it for something else. Then, you can keep the rest, throw it away, or sell it in some creative way. Laptop RAM sticks can sell for a fair amount you know...

Oh, and your battery is still alive. It's the computer's problem not the battery.

I've also tried that, it turns on for a few seconds then shuts down. Doesn't even load to point where i can get into boot options.

Got it. My old (really really) VAIO did that. Try about 5 more times. Then your PC will even refuse to start up. Try it 10 more times after that, and the LEDs will give up. You probably need an expensive repair that's not worth it anyway. How old is your PC? Intel Haswell is out, and new computers are incredibly faster, and power efficient.

Salvage your hard drive and abandon ship. Sorry.

OK I thought it would come to that, I just thought that if it at least turned on I could rebuild it. Thanks for your help anyway much appreciated!
