issues with dell vostro 1000
1) I do not have a reset option when I hit the F8 key and I finally am able to get windows xp (yeah I know) to reload but when it does and I should be able to click on my account I find my curser is frozen. This is an old laptop of my son's. He was trying to clear out his old games, etc and he wanted a factory reset. I have reinstallation disks that came with the laptop but nothing is working and the DELL website is as helpful as a pile of rocks. Anyone out there have any experience with the Vostro 1000?

It has been a little while since I did a reset on a Dell, but if I remember correctly the key to enter BIOS should be Del...

My recommendation is that you enter BIOS and verify the CD drive is given boot priority over the HDD. Insert the re-installation disks that came with the laptop (one should but labeled as an OS reinstall disk) and reboot the laptop (F10 to exit BIOS saving changes). You should see the "press any key to boot from CD" prompt for a few second before the Windows loading screen appears.

Give that a try and let us know how it goes.
