I think my headphone input is broken. All of the headphone jacks I have tried (3.5) are suddenly "loose" in the port. How can this be repaired under warranty? I don't want to send it away; are their hardware technicians available to install a new one under warranty?

Unless you have specifically chosen something like "on-site warranty repairs" when you purchased your laptop (usually and additional cost), then you must send it to the brand's repair center for it to be repaired. The amount of time necessary to repair it varies depending on how many other laptops need warranty service. It can be anywhere from 2 weeks to 4 weeks. You will likely need to pay shipping as well.

If you cannot be without your laptop for any extended period of time, then your only course of action is to bring it to an electronics repair shop. This will void the remainder of your warranty though because it is considered an unauthorized repair.

An alternative, is to go to the brand name's website to see if you can purchase an "on-site warranty" for the laptop.

Read the terms of service, because the "on-site warranty" might only be for simple things that does not require taking apart the laptop to solder in a new part.

Thank you, jaguarskx! I will take all this into careful consideration.
