Hi,

I recently bought PS CS6 from a reputable ebay seller as an "open-pack" and although the activation process was smooth, I recently found out that the serial number is registered under someone else's Adobe ID.

I heard that if you install and activate the software on 2 computers, it's not possible to activate a 3rd computer but I am worried, what if that old user who registered the serial contacts Adobe and tries to acquire the activation(s) from me, would it be possible? Does anybody know for sure? I activated the product and key using a new Adobe ID and I have been able to update to the latest version without any problems.

Thanks!

You bought a faulty product. If the licensing for CS6 allows you to install it on two systems, and it is already installed and activated somewhere else...then you can't use that second installation.

If the other person is still using it, and thinks he is using it legitimately, they could potentially complain to Adobe and cause your copy to become invalid.

Assuming it is a legitimate buy, I'd consider being proactive and get ahead of any potential issues. Contact Adobe and tell them the situation.
Of course, that may backfire, and Adobe could conclude that your copy is invalid.
