A small amount of water made its way onto my laptop (closed), most of it was on the front cover but a bit of it must've gotten between the screen hinges and onto the very top of the keyboard and the power button. I didn't notice it happened until later it was still running, the screen was all messed up and there was a very quiet sizzling noise emanating from the power button area. I quickly removed the battery and let it dry for about 4-5 days to be sure. I attempted turning it back on and the power light came on and sounded liked a normal start up except for nothing from the screen, completely black. I left it alone for a couple more days checked it again hoping by some miracle it had magically repaired itself except nothing happened this time. Power button was unresponsive but the charging light thing? was still lit up. Forgot about again for a few months checked again, same thing and now I'm writing this with a glimmer of hope that its something easy to fix.

Try a separate monitor to see if the system is working. It should plug into the back of the laptop. It might be just the screen. If just the screen, you may find one on ebay to replace yours, or check customer service of your make and model for how to remove and check your screen. They have diagnostics to check different parts of the computer. Then you will know where you are. Tell us the result for further advice
