Hello guys, im going to buy a laptop for the 1st time in my life for college and gaming. And i need some help and suggestions from the experts (i'm a complete noob)

My budget is 500-800$ max. And i've got 3 notebooks from acer that fit in my budget. They are Acer aspire
(1) v3-571g-6407,
(2) v3-571g-9683,
(3) v3-571g-9686

FYI i want to play hitman absolution and farcry 3 on it at least at medium settings. So which one of them will be suitable for me? If you have any alternative options, please let me know :)

the site just list basic specs(for indepth performance on the gpu, head to notebookcheck). basically the laptop you picked has the highest price to performance, except its of the group that does not have an HD monitor and has the lowest amount of ram.

If you want my recommendation, the HP laptop thats on sale on the right of the page is a good value. about the same horsepower as the v3-571g except with 6 gb ram and A HD screen on sale.

taking the gpu as a benchmark and using hitman on medium as the level

1st link: 630m 28 fps average 500$ dual core cpu +Hyper threading(2 virtual cores)
2nd link: 640m 32 fps average 680$ quad core cpu
3rd link: 730m 33 fps average 700$ quad core cpu

1. no company except the hgioh end one is built for "gaming" everythign under is multipurpose. Both Acer and HP dont have high track records. the only pc company who grew last year was lenovo.

2. APU's are good enough for the gpus. if you are doing any cpu intensive work that is primarily single thread dependent, it will lose out. Most users dont see the large difference unless you do strenuous synthetic benchmarks or heavy cpu use. its just due to its low cost for a workable quad core that its value oriented

thanks mate for showing me that. The hp's got top on my list and it's cheap. Though i'll wait a few days until i completely make my mind :)

btw i saw that the hp is customizable. So if i take the amd A10, 1 TB hdd and 8 GB RAM, how much would the cost increase?

I've had my eye on it for the past 2 months or so. Hasn't come down on Newegg or Amazon.

So does anyone think we should not wait till Haswell is out? Are they really any better than 3rd gen? I dont care for battery .
