Hi, I have an Acer Aspire 5251. I have been experiencing a bit of difficulty. My laptop won't turn on. When I press the power button, the power button lights up as well as the indicator w/ the light bulb symbol on top but the laptop won't boot up.

When I plug it in, the battery indicator (orange light) lights up. The fan whirs for a while and then stops. No other indicators light up as well and the screen remains blank. Do you think I could still do something to solve this before going in for repairs?

Thank you so much.

Your backlight on the LCD may have gone bad. Have you tried using a desktop monitor and using the fn key to turn on the video port on the back of the Laptop??? also flip the unit over with no power or battery in the unit and try and reseat the ram. Lose ram stick can cause no post.

May I ask how to "reseat the ram stick?" Also, I haven't tried connecting it with a desktop monitor yet. However, it still concerns me that the wifi indicator or any other light indicators are not lighting up. Could it be a problem somewhere else? Thank you for your reply.

Ram on the bottom of the laptop held in by clips. You just unlock the clips and pop out the ram. Most laptops there two prone failure spots. The ac brick...low output voltage will cause weired issues. Try another brick if you can or with a volt meter check it output. The other is a weak or broken power port on the laptop. Check to see if it bent or lose. If not sounds like a parts failure that needs a shop to repair.
