So I'm in an odd situation given that my workplace is willing to purchase a laptop/tablet for me as one of my benefits. As such I'm looking to purchase something before I stop working at this job at the end of June.

I have a desktop that serves my day to day needs, as such I'm looking for something portable.

I've started looking at tablets first. The high end tablets on the market right now seem to consist of the Razer Edge, the Acer Iconia and the Microsoft Surface Pro. All of which have drawbacks such as low battery life or a non-HD screen. But they are great because they are tablets and easily transportable with the W8 OS, so it's easy to use work software.

Now I'm looking for the best laptop to suit my needs. I'll be doing research on my own but I figured I would ask here.

I'm looking for something very portable, but I wouldn't mind having extra features such as a decent GPU. A lot of the high end laptops seem to be beat out by the Razer Edge, which was odd to me. Basically I'm looking for a laptop that could possibly have a touch screen, and if not blow the tablets out of the water spec-wise. I'm essentially looking for the best mix of the above (Portability, Touch-Screen, GPU, Battery Life).

Am I better off getting something like the Razer Edge, or are there laptops out there for around my price range that are worth looking at as well?

I do live in Canada so please take that into consideration. I don't mind buying online though.

If you need any other details let me know, thanks for the help!

I want to spend as close to $2k as possible (After taxes). I may as well use up all of the benefits. I would however like something a little more portable (Ultrabook style).
