I hope somebody on the forum can help or advise me on a issue that I am having with this laptop.

Until recently my laptop was working fine with no issues until about 2 days ago when windows started to go in to repair mode on boot up and on each occasion Windows was unable to repair the problem.

Today I went to use my laptop and there is no display, the fans come on as does the power light so can anybody advise me what the problem could be?, the machine is only a month out of its warranty with Toshiba and I have e-mailed them and awaiting a reply.

One of the messages on Windows repair was 'Autofailover', I have also spoken to a local PC repair center and I was told that this could be a faulty screen, faulty graphics chip or a board controller issue I have also tried hooking the laptop up to a monitor but I don't get any display coming through from the laptop.

I have tried that but I don't even get the TOSHIBA Bios screen, also when you turn the laptop on now the the processor fan and LED work but only for a few seconds then turn off when connected to the mains and also when only using battery power.

Try a different stick of ram first, unlikely the screen/screen cable suddenly went faulty.

Right from that conclusion it sounds like the board is shutting it self off to prevent further damage from a short somewhere. The northbridge needs reflowing if its shortening out as soon as it turns on. if it turns on and doenst display the GPU needs reflow.
