My wife is recently having problems with her laptop computer.
First, let me describe my wife's computer. It's an Acer Aspire (5742-6475) with an Intel Core i3-380M, 500 GB HDD, 15.6" HD LED LCD. It runs Windows 7. She has had it for a few years, bought it brand new. The battery and the fan still work, so there doesn't seem to be any problems with it overheating or not having enough energy.
Second, let me describe what happens. When I hit the power button, the laptop starts up. It goes to the Acer screen with the F2 for set-up. Then to a black screen for a little while. It then goes to a screen that says "Windows is loading files..." and then to "Resuming Windows" with a green bar instead of a blue bar. And it doesn't load up all the way here. It then goes back to a black screen. After a couple of minutes, it loads a blue windows screen with the mouse. It starts with a little circle loading, and then the loading mark goes away.
Do I need to send it in for a diagnostic or am I overlooking something? Maybe I need to take out the battery and put it back in. I think it may be a virus. Recently I have used a gaming emulator on her computer. She was complaining about it slowing down so I took the emulator off. Perhaps this has something to do with it. I don't know the precise year she bought it either.
Sorry if I didn't make sense of describing what is happening.
