Hi all, so I actually got in to the university program I was hoping for, shock and aww lol, but that means all the work I did and all the help I got figuring out a desktop build has basically gone to waste. So I'm hoping someone can help me fine a laptop that is

- Light
- not very glare-y screen (so I can work outdoors)
- GOOD BATTERY LIFE
- can support CS6/portal/minecraft/farmville/sims
- can connect to my beautiful monster screen
- looks and FEELS nice and solid
- dependable

Don't worry, I know that's a "I want everything for cheap and I want it NOW"

A bit more about me: I'm going in to the Radio and Television Arts program at Ryerson University. When I have power house projects I have access to purpose built computers, but I want something that I can do simple editing on for personal vlog and memory purposes, and light gaming.

I'm currently looking at http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8023839&CatId=927
that. Because I live in canada the price , with warranty, comes to about $750

Well first: Congrats on getting into that university program!

Those tax and duty fees really hit hard, don't they? For a $589 laptop to jump to $750, after all. There's a notebook reseller in Canada: http://www.reflexnotebook.ca/laptops-notebooks.html

They have a couple units under $700. They are a Sager (Clevo) reseller, who makes very robust laptops. Since the two models within your budget don't have dedicated graphics, the battery life should be decent. The only problem is the two models I saw within your budget both have glossy screens, instead of the matte (matte is better for lots of ambient light).
