I have a GTX680 GPU and when I try to connect it to my HDTV I get this wieird issue : my HDTV is supposed to be full HD and is supposed to support 1080p, but when I select this resolution, the screen goes out of boundary. In fact, if I select any 9:16 resoluiton, the screen goes out of boundary, and the issue is only solved if I select 960:1280, which is a 3:4 resolution.

I have a widescreen LCD HDTV and it works fine on 1080p with my xbox360. So why I have this issue on pc and is there anyway to solve it ? I tried many types of connection, (HDMI, dvi to HDMI, DVI to VGA) and I used the overscan option provided by nVIDIA, what shall do else ?

typically overscan/underscan fixes the issue

i would use either a dvi-to-hdmi cable (which often comes with video cards) or a hdmi-to-hdmi cable (bought just about anywhere)

double check that it is a 1080p tv not a 720p tv. if 1080p then 1920x1080 needs to be selected in your windows settings. its quite easy to tell a 3:4 tv from a 16:9 so i dont think you would make that mistake. set everything correct first and then try and see if we can bring things into focus after.

if that does not work then try vsync

if that does not work make sure your tv doesnt have a zoom, full, fit, or other display mode on, this includes any 3d

go into your windows resolution and double check that it is set at the same as your nvidia settings (1920x1080, 60hz)

if that does not work try the same port your xb360 uses and the settings i listed above

make sure you have the newest nvidia software drivers

Thank you for your answer,
Even at 720p it has the same problem,. It goes out of boundaries. I used a DVI to HDMI with the same port I used with xbox, but the TV does not give the right size unless I select a 3:4 resolution, which is super weird, because it is physically a widescreen TV.

And it is not a windows issue, because I managed to solve the size problem with windows using nVIDIA overscan (I had to set the boundaries manually), nontheless, the problem is still there wsith games (hud is not within boundaries, and the games are zoomed).
