Can I have two input sources to one pair of computer speakers play simultaneously with some kind of splitter?

I'll apologize in advance for asking what may be a dumb question, however, I just don't want to buy something and have to return it..

I have a pair of Bose computer speakers that are a few years old (not sure how old - they were given to me.) My internet is slow so if I want to stream music, doing it with my computer while trying to play a game or do anything online it can be a hindrance.

I am wondering if there is some kind of splitter that I could buy so that I could feed sound to the speaker from both my phone and the computer (music streaming from my phone and sound from the game playing through the same speaker set at the same time.) I thought maybe an aux in splitter would work but everything I looked at described it more like two sources (speakers+headphones) that emit sound from one source (computer). Not quite what I was looking for as I wanted to feed two sound sources into one speaker..

I just want to know if this is possible and if there is something on amazon (US) that I could snag to do it (any links appreciated)!

Thanks for your time.. and sorry for the dumb question!

Thanks for the reply, Tidus.

I am still looking for an item that can do this (if it is possible).. if anyone can post a splitter that would work for sure I would appreciate it!

Thanks!

You need a four channels passive mixer. Passive so that it doesn't have to be externally powered, four channels so it can handle two devices with stereo outputs.

You can make one if you're good with a soldering iron. If you want to buy one i've seen them for around $50, which is kind of pricey; but they typically have volume controls for each device, which is nice.

My solution was to daisy-chain two computers into my speakers:

■Connect the MacBook Pro audio out into PC's mic in.
■Connect the PC's audio out into speakers.
■Enable listening on the PC's mic configuration so sound from the mic channel plays through.

Works for me and zero dollars cost.
