Weird random sound driving me crazy!

Hi,

I'll try to be as brief as possible.. I had a genius hometheater which at some point started making some weird loud, super annoying sound randomly. I thought there was something wrong with the speakers so I bought new ones, I needed an upgrade anyway.

So I got the Thonet&Vander Hoch speakers. But a few hours after connecting them, they started doing the same annoying sound. I've tried everything, unplugging them from the computer doesn't work, they still make the sound even if they are connected to no audio source, so I'm guessing it's an electical issue. I tried connecting them to another outlet, but that didn't work either.

It does almost sound like a power(electrical) issue. Or an issue with the sound cables(but with then disconnected[speaker end] it should not happen)

I was just expecting a ground loop(constant low pitch buzz).

Can you move the speakers to another room in the house/apartment(try to get on another circuit) and run them without even having the audio able connected to them.

That sounds like an electrical device within the house being turn on or turned off. I had a faulty dimmer switch once that did a similar sound in my home theater....I would check switches around the house and/or electrical appliances that could be creating the noise...if you can find it - A power filter might eliminate the noise - something like this (I can't believe WalMart actually has the best price) http://www.walmart.com/ip/17490821?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227000000000&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=&wl3=21486607510&wl4=&wl5=pla&veh=sem

If a power filter doesn't do it, the only other item would be the cabling between devices and/or speaker wires being near the electrical wiring where the spike is happening.
