Hello, this is my 1st post here, as i am desperate with an acer laptop i was trying to fix. I got the laptop on my hands a couple of days ago, with the symptoms below: automatic power up when plugged in and automatic shutdowns. (not on windows)
So i started checking to see what was happening and i figured the exact symptoms:
(Laptop is in all situations powered off, and i just plug in the ac adapter and press the power button)

Situation a) happening most of the times - like 80%:
Laptop automatically turns on immediatly when plugged in (despite having the battery mounted or not) then after 2-3 seconds turns off, and then immediatly after a second max turns on again and i get no boot (screen stays black while i hear fans spinning, hard drive workingm leds blinking etc).

Situation b) the rest of the times i try to power it up:
Laptop turns on, stays on, and boots normally to windows.

How did i do the tests: ( and i count more than 30 tries to power it up, from which i came to the above results)
-Changed the ac adapter with a working one
-Plugged in the ac adapter with the battery mounted
-Plugged in the ac adapter without the battery
-Tried to power up the laptop with just the battery on
-Dissasembled the laptop to check the cmos battery and figured that it was dead (voltmeter showing 0.2-0.3 volts) so changed it, hoping it was causing the weird power up issues.
-Checked all the connections inside the mobo of the laptop for any sign of bad connection or damaged cables - shortcircuits etc

p.s: No beep sounds in either situation, nor the good or the bad one, though i think its speaker is not working.

I am rly confused here, from my experience ive never faced anything similar, and i cant get my head to think of anything else than a (familiar with acer laptops) damaged motherboard.

Any help is rly appreciated,
thanks in advance and i hope what i just wrote makes some sense as english aint my mother language :)

Thanks again,
Lefteris.

Hi
It happens few times too deal with "liquid spill over power button " try to check you power button for short.
Disconnect all you can - leave just adapter , cpu and 1 x ram and once the problem is gone add back one by one all
