Hey!

I'm in the market to buy a laptop for web designing. The softwares that are usually open and I multi-task through are -

-Dreamweaver
-Photoshop
-WAMP
-Chrome - multiple tabs
-Firefox
-iTunes

I've decided that I'm definitely going in for a 14" Ultrabook because of the portability. However I'm on a budget and all the laptops in my price range have a config like -
1 - 3rd Gen ci3 + 1GB dedicated GPU + 4GB Ram
2 - 3rd Gen ci5 + Intel HD4000 + 4GB Ram

They're all around the same weight.

So I'd like to know to run the apps above, which combination is better suited? How much of a dedicated GPU would these apps actually use/require?

Thanks,
Ankeet

UPDATE:

So here are the specs of the ones I was looking at

HP Pavillion 14b - I was leaning towards this one, since I know this GPU is pretty decent
Processor: Core i3 (3rd Generation) 3217U
RAM: 4GB
HDD: 500GB(5400RPM) + 32GB SSD
GPU: 1GB NVIDIA GeForce 630M

Lenovo Ideapad U
Processor: Core i5 (3rd Generation) 3317U
RAM: 4GB
HDD: 500GB(5400RPM) + 24GB SSD
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 4000

The first one is also pretty budget friendly

It's that much better? Didn't realize that.

That being said, since the performance will be very similar still, I recommend the i3 still, as it's cheaper.

There's really no difference between them. The 630M isn't that much better than HD 4000, and both the i5 and i3 are dual cores with hyperthreading; the i5 is just clocked slightly higher.

Since you're on a budget, go with the cheaper one - performance will be nearly identical.
