I have a laptop that was wiped with DBAN and I'm attempting to install windows XP of of a disc, however it refuses to go to the install screen it simply says
"a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to revent damage to your computer

if this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. if this creen appears again, follow these steps:

ceck for virses on your computer. remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

technical information:

*** stop: 0x0000007b (0xf78d2524,0xc0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)

can't boot any thing as it just goes to a blank black screen if i try to boot without any CD as it does not currently have an Os but it will boot up DBAN still and Hrens boot CD no problem it just seems to be both the windows xp discs i have tried and both are separate discs not copies of one another, running this on an asus ks0i with 3g ram 320g hd 2.2 pentium dual core processor, i know very minimal information about computers so any help is appreciated.

Are the disks XP Service Pack 2 installation disks? If they are XP or XP service Pack 1 installation disks you may need to load the HDD controllers drivers during install. When setup starts keeping pressing F6 to get to the option screen to load the driver. If you don't hit F6 then it will offer the screen but fail to load the driver. XP was like that for some reason.
