Part of my screen blacks out

I have a SONY VAIO PCG-61411L and it worked wonderfully until a few months ago. While on the internet, it would take progressively longer to upload web pages and then started blacking out sections of webpages so my screen looked like a patchwork quilt of black and regular display. This has gotten worse and to the point that now the pages do not load at all or the entire screen is black or it takes forever. Has anyone else faced this problem? Any ideas? Would really appreciate any help.
Thanks!

Have you uninstalled and reinstalled the video drivers or found updated drivers online? Otherwise, I'm guessing your GPU is getting too hot, when was the last time you did a full deep clean on the inside of the laptop?

I think scottie is right in that it's GPU related. Can you recreate this in Safe Mode? If so, it's probably not driver related (I also agree with scottie that it's probably a heat issue).

You can try cleaning the unit, but if the GPU has suffered from excessive heat and chip creep, then it's unlikely salvageable, save for MAYBE a reflow.

Thanks Scottie. I am afraid I have never done a full deep clean on the inside of the laptop. How can I do this? Do I need to take it to a service center? Also, not sure about the video drivers either. Appreciate the advice. Thanks!

You can download the latest video drivers from Sony's support site. Then go into Control Panel, uninstall the current drivers and install the new ones. As for cleaning, either take it to a service center (maybe they will do the latest drivers too) or you can do it by removing the back cover, get a can or two of compressed air and blow every nook and cranny out.
