I have the Canon EOS-20D camera and Windows 7 Vista 654 bit computer. The PTP transfer is not working. Any suggestions for fixing this so I can transfer pics to my computer??

The description of your computer is a bit confusing. Is it a Windows 7 64-bit or Vista 64-bit computer or are you running a dual boot machine?
I'm assuming you have gone into the proper menu on the camera and switched it from Normal to PTP and are having the problem. If you haven't done so the instructions for changing the communications setting can be found on page 1-8 of this manual - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/130.pdf
Have you considered using a card reader? It may actually be faster for transferring the pictures from the SD card. Be sure to look at the precautions on page 1-9. It is stated there that RAW images cannot be transferred via PTP.

Sorry about that! My computer is Windows 7. I normally transfer pictures through a HDMI cord with the camera being set on PTP. The other day I pluged the camera into my computer, like I normally do, and turned the camera on and my computer totally shut down. I had to restart and when I did the computer would not read the camera. It will read other devices, but not the camera. So, I don't know what happened. I have not tried a card reader and I may be forced to get one. I thought I'd try to troubleshoot this and see if anyone else had experienced this problem. Thanks for your help, Ken!!

Ken - there are no drivers for Windows 7 regarding this camera model. I checked my Device Manager and no yellow triangle.
Cin19 - i will check out the link. Thank you!
