I have a acer one aspire KAV60 notebook 10.1 inch screen which is a friends I am fixing.
I have just bought a new screen it is compatible. The old screen was defiantly dead screen wont show with torch. The new one I can only see with a torch, I sent it back they tested it said it was fine but still sent another. New one still the same can only see with a torch.
what else could be the problem? I have turned the brightness up I no it isn't that.

Solution
Hi :)

The screen being COMPATIBLE....means precisely NOTHING ...see my sig....

You NEED to get the exact same screen...you do that by looking at the white sticker on the back of the original screen and the NEW screen MUST have every single number and letter the SAME....

All the best Brett :)
Can you test with a voltmeter the pins 28 and 30 at the connector for the screen on the motherboard ? Those pins supply the power for the LED of the screen, you should have some voltage on those pins. If you have the power, the screen you have is not compatible.

Hi Thank you I dont have a volt meter I am a learner to be honest but am very technical. I have changed many screens before but not had this problem, I have never tampered with a motherboard yet. The screen is compatible.

this is what they sent me about it. I had not heard of this happening before.

"What we have done with the screen though is to flash the firmware on with the same program as LTN101NT02. Basically, this time the screen you rec'd is different on the outside compare to your original screen, but the inside is exactly the same as your original screen".

this is the item http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110861603978&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123

Hi :)

HEHEHE...ITS LIES...

You can flash a bios chip, but its a little hard to flash a screen chip...BECAUSE IT DOES NOT HAVE A CHIP lol...

All the best Brett :)

Hi Sorry to hassle you lol
They are saying they think with any screen I will have the same problem only seeing with a torch. They say they are sure it is the wire connecting screen to laptop but If this was the case would I beable to see it with a torch still? The old screen had dead screen for sure not even a torch worked. But new one I can see with a torch.

The company's next reply. I feel lost in this lol

"All LCD / LED screens have a small chip soldered on to the circuit board on the back of the screen. This is how laptop identify the screen rather it is compatible or not compatible etc... We have a special equipement here which allow us to flash the EDID chip and if you speak to another big screen supplier even on eBay such as "lcdking, bumblesales, etc.. they know exactly what we are talking about.

I have watched a few clips on inverters and I have looked all over for this is on the notebook but I can't find it so I am guessing it has ove hidden built in? I removed screens n checked all over nothing like an inverter there

Hi :)

Follow the wires down and AWAY from the screen...they will end in a little white plastic connector that is fitted into ONE end of the Inverter...

Usually under the bottom bezel of the screen... you HAVE to take of the whole front bezel of the screen to see it...

All the best Brett :)

Firstly Brett does not know what he’s talking about, and I mean nothing, everything he has said is rubbish, lets start from the first comment and end with the last!

You do not need the EXACT SAME SCREEN you can use, for example and LTN156AT02 – LTN156AT24 and LP156WH2 (TL) (A1) – (QE) they’re all the same just different revisions or made for different brands like Dell, Tosh, Sony etc…

Dell 1545 the LED 1366x768 version has to date 8 “different” screens in them and they will all work with each other the screen manufacturers just make small improvements to them.

No Brett they’re not lying, lets face it why would they unless they’re a dodgy company, and believe me they’re not I know them myself.

Screens do have firmware on an EPROM chip as do 99% of electronics, this chip tells the piece of equipment how to work under every possible condition EG voltage fluctuations to different signals being applied to it.

You can flash any EPROM / EEPROM / EDID chip Bretty Boy!

Rolta lol ok!

If you knew ANYTHING you’d know this LED LTN101NT02 screen does not have an inverter, joker, go back to bed!

Corin – Now who are you going to believe? Bretty Boy or me! Go watch your TV!

If Brett changes hundreds of screens a month then he would not be on this site posting he’d be on a beach in Hawaii sunning himself as he would be turning over about £20,000 per month.

LOL – A little knowledge in a little mind
