1. What is your budget? <$700

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? 17"

3. What screen resolution do you want? 1600 x 900 or 1920 x 1080

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? Either, usually plugged in on the couch and taken on trips, but not too often.

5. How much battery life do you need? 2-3 hours if fine for web surfing and light office work.

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)? Mainly used for FB games, but will have some other light games like Everquest, World of Tanks, etc.

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.) Office programs, but not too much.

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need? 320 gb's or so. Will probably replace the HD with an SSD.

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links. Newegg, Amazon, Sony, etc.

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop? 3-4 years

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ? DVD Burner unless it comes with Bluray

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons. I like Asus, MSI, Lenovo, Acer

13. What country do you live in? U.S.

* Would like the keyboard to be of decent size. The Dell 17R wasn't big enough and the one that I had was really slow (probably because of the 5400 rpm HD) and the wireless wouldn't work right (kept dropping and I would have to reset the router every 20 min. or so).

Here are a couple that I was looking at, but if you find something like I stated above, please let me know. I'm usually pretty thorough in my searches, but I might have missed one somewhere.

$600
lenovo G780 Metal (59363225) Notebook Intel Core i5 3230M(2.60GHz) 17.3" 6GB Memory DDR3 1600 500GB HDD 5400rpm DVD±R/RW NVIDIA GeForce GT 635M

$600, but would add the AMD 7650m GPU for $40 more, so would be at least $640.
Sony VAIO E Series 17 Custom Laptop

* I will also probably be buying this laptop within the next week, maybe sooner if I find something better than listed above.

I really don't like HP (unless it's from the Envy line) much and the Dell 17R is also off the table from previous experience with it.

Can't seem to find either one of those within the $700 budget. The laptop is for the Wife and her needs are quite a bit less than mine, but the Lenovo looks like the winner, especially since it's plenty for her needs and is probably much more of a gaming system than mine (which I game on my computer more than she does).

Well the Wife pulled the plug and I ordered the Lenovo, since it's within the budget and she didn't want to spend more than $600. I got a $10 off coupon code with Newegg and I also got a Fat Wallet discount (1%) too, which isn't much but it all adds up. Thanks for the input from the 2 of you, BTW :)
