I have an HP Pavilion DV8233CL with a Centrino Duo T2300 CPU@1.6GHz

Is it possible to upgrade the cpu to something better?

Solution
Short answer: it might not be worth it.

Complete answer: it's hard to tell what a laptop is compatible with since the manufacturer's generally don't publish compatibility lists. That's a somewhat old 32-bit CPU though, whether the BIOS on that board would get along with a faster CPU is hard to guarantee. Even if you could, those CPUs tend to be expensive, but still wouldn't equal a more modern CPU which your laptop definitely wouldn't support.

What are you trying to do with this older laptop and why would you like to upgrade the CPU? There may be a different solution.

Just all I have at the moment and figured why not. I was looking at the T7400 Core Duo and figured it would work with the same socket and FSB. and as well allow me to install x64 and more ram. up to 3gb by the MB specs
