Hello All, My old laptop recently died and I received the laptop below as a replacement. (Acer Aspire V5-171). From what I read it's pretty good considering it's price. My old laptop could get by playing things like torchlight but I mostly just used it just for surfing the web. This one seems quite a step up however so I'm going to try and play some stuff from steam. Before I buy anything however I want to make sure it can play it. I wanted to ask you guys if you think games like Left for Dead 2, Starcraft 2, and Sid Meier's Civilization IV or V would play fine on the laptop below. It doesn't need to run on the highest setting as long as it's smooth. *Crosses Fingers*. If not then what could they play? Or I'll just stick to emulators, lol. I've used systemrequirementslab.com for L4D2 and the results mixed. Had a good enough CPU & RAM but a no the graphics card...i think. I'll check the rest when I can. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi :)

Its a decent laptop with one problem for games...

That HD 4000 inbuilt graphics.... its NOT a card...

It will play some games but on low or maybe medium...

All the best Brett :)

Ha!, note taken. I'm not a computer person at all, so that's news to me! lol
So in your opinion will I be able to play any of the above games?
Thank's for the advice!

Hi :)

You really need to look at the SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS for each game on the manufacturer of the games website.... IF it say graphics CARD <<<< it wont play on it...

All the best Brett :)

I'll try that in a few then. I tested the Civ 5 demo and it seemed ok, but I only played for like 15 minutes and I didn't have much on the map. I'm not to sure how it will play when there's a bunch of cities and units all over the game map. L4D2 is a fairly old game so I'm hoping it'll work. I youtube'd videos of people playing it just fine with Intel HD Graphics 4000, but that had a processor with a higher GHz if I remember ;). Starcraft also has a demo so I'll try it out later. My internet speed at home sucks though so I was trying to save myself the trouble of having to download such large files...oh well @_@

Hi :)

Most of the older games will play, its newer games like Crysis 3 or Bf3 that wont...

All the best Brett :)
