Hi guys,

I'm using Asus K43TK notebook, with specification:
- CPU: AMD A6-3420M
- Graphics: Radeon HD 6520M/7670M
- RAM bawaan: Hynix DDR3 2GB PC12800
- OS: Win7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Next, I upgrade the RAM with Corsair DDR3 4GB PC12800.

BIOS detects total memory capacity as 6 GB.
But Windows says only 2GB is usable.

What's the matter with my notebook?
How do I make use of total 6GB memory?

Thanks in advance~

Solution
Let's start by running msconfig.exe. On the start tab click extended options and uncheck the maximum memory option, if it's set. If that's not set, run resmon.exe and see if the missing 4GB are "hardware reserved". That means simple, that it's a faulty stick and windows could not write to it (bios only reads the spd config but does not check the ram itself).

mixing memory is a bad idea.....you should use the same exact speed, make and model when ever possible. not saying it won't work but it can cause issues.

check in bios to see if mixed memory mode is on or even has a setting....if that doesn't work.... try to use just the 4 gb stick to see if all 4 will registry....let me know the results.

Thanks, you're right!
The maximum memory option on Boot tab was set to 2048 MB.
After unchecking that and restarting the OS, I got 5.48 GB usable now. I'm assuming that the other 0.52 GB is used by Radeon HD 6520M integrated graphics.

Thanks buddy!
