These are the speakers I'm currently using.

http://www.amazon.com/Insignia-NS-PCS41-Computer-Speaker-System/dp/B004DX7JCC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1364630269&sr=8-2&keywords=insignia+speakers

They sound great, but I don't feel like bringing them with me each time I go back home. So I'm looking for a good cheap pair of speakers that sound just as good. I don't know anything about speakers so I can't really compare them. These are the ones I'm looking at now.

Any help would be appreciated.

This Logitech will sound even better, not stronger, but better than Insignia. It's good choice.

+1 for logitech speakers set, i own the old X-530 for my girlfriend's PC (as she had stereo cheapo speakers before) and i use Logitech Z906 (but they're in the 400$ range so not cheap) and i had not a single bad word about the both, the X-530 model serves me well from about 2002-2003 to now and the new Z506 i think is the new replacement for that model (and the Z506 is more at 100$ range)

my X-530 setup isn't as powerfull as the Z906 for sure but at normal listening range, music sounds great, movies lacks a little bass now that i've tried the 906 but comparing to other 100$ priced set, i think this is the best you can get...

I really suggest that you take at least a look at the Z506: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/surround-sound-speaker-z506

If you want stereo 2.1 system, check the Z323, the z523 for only 10$ more and the high-end Z623 model...
