That's a VERY good deal for the price.

You might want to consider saving up for an SSD to replace that slow hard drive, and I'd replace windows 8 with 7, but I'd go for it.

get the model with the 1080p screen. Not really a good deal, i bought the same laptop with 8 gigs and a 1080p screen for $849. check out newegg for the y500.

There are 3 versions of the Y500, two of which are slightly above my budget and the other one has a GT 650M. The 650M is obviously not a bad GPU, however some games that I play such as BF3, BL2 and Skyrim perform around 4-8 FPS better on the 660M. The 1080p I don't care for so much, I prefer to have better FPS over better graphics. But thanks for the recommendation, if something were to not go to plan I would definitely consider those.
