I am getting a 99 error message with every photo shot I make. I literally have to turn off the camera and turn it back on to take the next shot. Is there a simple fix?

99 means battery problem. Take out the battery and run the camera on AC power. Do you still get the error? Do you recall how long the battery lasted before the error occurred? See if it lasts 30 minutes with the LCD on.

Batteries do go bad and 10 years is a long time for one. Have you ever replaced it? You can try batteries.com or Amazon for a new one if you have no error on AC only. You want a BP-511 or BP-512 replacement. BTW your camera seems to also be known as an EOS 300D.

I bought two new batteries 6 months ago. It works for less than 10 minutes before having the problem. I took wedding pics over the weekend and changed the battery with newly charged one. It screwed up from the beginning of the replacement battery

No, the first one, which ever one I put in, works for about 10 min. It is almost like the camera is getting electronically hot or overheated and then doesn't work. No matter which battery I use, the pattern is the same. If I want to take a few pics, no problem, but when I start taking massive pics, the problem appears. I bought new memory cards and batteries, thinking it might be the problem. I am almost to the point of buying a new camera. I don't think it would be equitable to fix the one I have.
