Hi, thanks in advance for any replies.

i have a K52Jr which is a few years old. Recently the screen started flickering white, with some gradated lines. Usually the entire screen goes opaque sometimes there is a whiter line embedded in the opaque.
At first it seemed to only be when the screen was at a particular angle/position. It is getting worse and now is occurring spontaneously while I'm typing or just staring at the screen. Twice while typing this for example.

I will check the tear down thread out here, http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/53660-35-laptop-notebook-disassembly-hardware-repair-guide *but* I'm wondering if people think a new screen is in order or if it's a loose connection. I'm trying to minimize the amt of time without the laptop.

Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong abt the two causes i listed! <grin>

Hi :)

Strip it first.... You NEED the EXACT part number from the white sticker, on the BACK of the screen.... and when you get the new one you MUST check that EVERY SINGLE NUMBER AND LETTER IS THE SAME... or it wont work....

We change HUNDREDS very month...

All the best Brett :)

thanks,
I just would like to have all the parts together before i tare it down. I really dislike ripping something apart on the dining room table & having to leave it for a week while a part is shipped in. plus I *always* forget the order when re-assembling.

Thanks, I will take your advice and tear it down to get the part numbers. This way I can double check the connectors and cables.
Since my laptop will be out of commission for a while, I'm going to wait till the existing screen is more annoying then it is now.

Hi :)

Lol, fine ...

Come back if you get any problems...

All the best Brett :)

Absolutely, my biggest concern is dealing with the case...
I'm comfortable with desktops so the hardware should be straight forward. It's just the small pesky cables, screws & stuff that doesn't come apart as it should.
